Birkirkara pairs on top

Matches played on Day 2 of the Doubles Individual League saw our club's doubles pairs continue showing progress in their play, if not all in results obtained.

Men's Doubles Div. 1

In the Men's Div. 1 Aldo Polidano/Stefan Salomone continued with their winning form defeating Edmond & Rodney Abela of Paola Wolves and clubmates Arif Rochman/RaguRam Sellakkannu, both matches ending 2-0. Thus the Birkirkara pair are leading the table with maximum points. Arif Rochman/RaguRam Sellakkannu were unlucky in today's fixtures that they had to meet another strong pair - Paola Wolves' David Cole/Kenneth Vella and lost this match too, despite putting a brave show.

Stephen Ferrante/Samuel Cali jumped to third place in the table when they defeated clubmates Albert Bezzina/Ivan Salomone in their first game and then took a well-earned point off the Paola Wolves pair David Cole/Kenneth Vella in a 1-1 draw.

On their part Albert Bezzina/Ivan Salomone after losing their first match of the day showed some nice badminton as they earned a point in a 1-1 draw against Edmond & Rodney Abela of Paola Wolves.

Ladies' Doubles Div. 1

Birkirkara pair Maria Borg/Fiorella M. Sadowski showed their all-round superiority in this division by winning both their matches by the identical score of 2-0 against Shuttles pair Carmen Spiteri/Grace Saliba and by virtue of a walk-over clubmates Marica Micallef/Katerina Vella (the latter being sick). These wins see them in a commanding position in the standings' table.

Marija Attard/Klara O'Berg won their first points of the season by virtue of a walk-over clubmates Marica Micallef/Katerina Vella, but then lost their second match against Shuttles pair Carmen Spiteri/Grace Saliba.
