Positive results in Div 2 Singles

Our players obtained positive results when the Singles Individual League resumed last Wednesday. Matches concerned Division 2.

Ivan Salomone continued showing marked improvement in his play when he managed to draw both matches played, thus obtaining 2 precious points from two balanced and cointested encounters. In the first match he faced Edmond Abela of Paola Wolves. Points alternated throughout both games which ended with the same scoreline 21-16, with Ivan winning the first set but then making some unforced errors which cost him the second game.

In his second match he met clubmate Arif Rochman in a very balanced encounter as the score indicates. Ivan lost the first set 21-19 but then won the second 25-23. Both players must be commended for the effort put.

On his part Arif drew his first match against Paola Wolves player Rodney Abela in another balanced encounter ending 21-19 for Arif and 21-17 for Rodney.

Albert Bezzina met Mark Briffa of Shuttles and won his match 29-25, 21-15. As the score shows the first set was very close with play changing hands from point to point. Albert then edged past his opponent in the second part of the second set.

He next played Edmond Abela but lost this match 21-15,21-14. Albert seemed to feel the effort made in the first match and was forced to make some errors which cost him at least a point.
